Your Next Read | Twice Shy

Twice Shy by Sarah Hogle was a very sweet book. Maybell Parish has always been a dreamer. After a rough upbringing where she was moved around often based on her mother’s whims, she has settled into a life she doesn’t like, but doesn’t think she can make any better on her own. So when she inherits a house in the Smoky Mountains from her great-aunt Violet, she thinks this is exactly the fresh start she needs.

When she arrives, not only is the house falling apart, but she finds that there is a co-inheritor. She has to share everything with the groundskeeper Wesley, who is as grouchy about the whole situation as she is excited. Together they must decide how to fix the crumbling property and what to do about the property’s future. Their ideas are very different, and Maybell doesn’t think they can make it work for them both. Slowly, they start to let their guard down, and Maybell discovers that Wesley is actually very sweet underneath his gruff exterior.

This was a really sweet book – it out a smile on my face so many times, and if you’re looking for a happy read, this can definitely fit the bill.
