Small Things
One of the things I learned from my grandparents was that small actions every single day lead to big results. This could be in our interactions with people, when it comes to saving money, or in our faith.
It is because of them that I like to surround myself with small reminders of my faith. Reminders to stop and be grateful, or to say a prayer for whatever it is that needs my prayers at the moment.
My brother shared with us at my grandfather’s funeral that he would often walk in to say good night to my grandfather and he was praying – something he did for nearly two hours each evening. Most of us don’t have the energy at the end of the day to pray for two hours. But two and a half minutes? That’s all it takes to pray a decade of the rosary – an Our Father, 10 Hail Marys, and a Glory Be. I can pray that while I unload the dishwasher, while I apply my makeup, or while I’m driving back home from dropping the kids off at school. Do that 5 times throughout the day, and you’ve said a full rosary. People are often intimidated by How to Pray the Rosary but you really don’t have to be.
Prayer doesn’t have to be difficult, but it does have to be intentional. Surround yourself with small reminders to pray each day, and it will become a natural part of your day.
