Your Next Read | The Honey-Don’t List

This was a quick, fun romance to read. I read it in a few hours, and I think it would make a great beach or vacation read. The book is by Christina Lauren – who if you didn’t know, is actually two people! Christina Lauren is the combined pen name of long-time writing partners/best friends Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings.

Carey has worked with design gurus Rusty and Melissa Tripp for ten years. She first started working in their country store, and has helped them more than anyone suspects as they’ve grown to a major lifestyle brand and HGTV sensation. Rusty and Melissa are on the verge of superstardom, but there’s only one problem – they can’t stand one another.

James McCann was hired with the promise of being a lead engineer, but the job is definitely not what he pictured it to be. To make matters worse, he and Carey are expected to go on a book tour with them to keep them in line. And it’s not like either of them can quit. Carey needs the health insurance Melissa provides her, and James has been promised a major role – as long as he can keep the couple on track for the rest of the tour.

They decide to work together to keep their bosses in line, but when does it all get to be too much?

I loved the way this book portrayed employment and feeling a duty to your employer. It was definitely realistic and a feeling many of us can relate to. There’s a great romance aspect here, too. The book is written from both James and Carey’s perspectives, and I loved getting the insight into both characters.
