Best Books on the Eucharist for Parents and Kids Preparing for First Communion

This school year, Chloe will complete her First Holy Communion. When Caleb prepared for his communion, I found myself re-learning so much about the Eucharist. That season of refreshing my knowledge made my own experience of his first communion that much more special.

Over the years, I’ve continued to learn and grow in appreciation for the Eucharist, and I’d love to share some of the best Catholic books on the Eucharist that have helped me better understand why we believe what we do.

This list is by no means exhaustive. Some of these books are theologically deep, while others are simple and nourishing—but all of them have drawn me closer to Christ in the Eucharist.

Why Read About the Eucharist?

The Eucharist is the source and summit of our Catholic faith. Taking time to read about it not only strengthens our personal relationship with Jesus but also helps us guide our children through sacramental preparation with confidence and joy. Whether you are preparing your child for First Communion or seeking to renew your own faith, these books can serve as powerful companions on the journey.
