Topknot Travels | Casa de Campo Pt. 2
Last year (2021), we traveled to Casa de Campo in June. They were still under a lot of Covid restrictions, including a curfew that cut all our days short. We had a great time, regardless, but we were excited to head back to Casa de Campo again and experience it without the restrictions.
This year, we went with family – we were 6 adults and 4 children. We stayed in this house, which definitely had space for more people than that. I loved this house and the two ladies who were there during the day. We paid extra for some of our meals to be made there, and it was the best. For flights, we flew in to the airport in Santo Domingo (SDQ) and took a private van to the resort. It’s about 1.5 hours – we used CocoTours. If you want to get around easily, your best bet is to rent a golf cart. You can get them here.
We went horseback riding again – you can make these reservations by calling the Casa de Campo reservations line and they will transfer you there. You can also send an email to a.concierge@ccampo.com.do.
Something else we did this time was a catamaran tour to Isla Saona. The one we did left from outside of Casa de Campo – we had to take a private bus there. But you can book them directly through Casa de Campo as well (I would probably do this option. We ended up on boats with some really rowdy 20-somethings who were pretty disorderly and disrespectful. I normally wouldn’t care, but we were with the kids so it was definitely bothersome.)
This time we ate at La Piazzetta, which was beautiful and the food was great. It is definitely more upscale, and it is located at Los Altos de Chavon. Altos de Chavon is a replica of a 16th century Mediterranean village, so it is a charming place to spend an afternoon. We also attended mass at the church there, St. Stanislaus.
We spent a lot of time at Minitas Beach – the beach club in Casa de Campo. There is a bar, a restaurant, a family pool, a kids pool, and an adults only pool. There are also food trucks, a smoothie shop, and an ice cream shop. You could really spend all day there. We also had dinner at Minitas Beach Club one afternoon and it was very good as well.

Jenise
