Saturday Scoop | One on One

Everyone was finally healthy this week and we ended the week with individual kid dates. Chloe and Eddie danced the night away at a Father Daughter dance at school, and Caleb and I went out for dinner and ice cream, and we of course ended up at a bookstore. We haven’t really been great about spending intentional one on one time with the kids, so it was super sweet and something I definitely think we need to make more time for.
Just like with our marriages and friendships, our relationships with our kids require time and intentionality. It’s easy to think, “I know my kids, I spend so much time with them.” But the reality is that the everyday is just that – the everyday. And sometimes, our kids want to feel special and like they’re the center of our attention.
So my challenge to you is to find some time in the coming weeks to spend time with your kids one on one. Take them out for breakfast, take them for ice cream, go for a walk. Something that gets you out of the everyday routine with them and that makes them feel like they are the center of your world. We know they’re the center of our worlds (most of the time), but sometimes they really need to feel that way.
xoxo,
Jenise
