Where to Eat in Montreal

I decided to make this a separate post so I wouldn’t overload you. This way, I feel information is easier to find! Here are some of the restaurants where we ate while we were in Montreal. The ones with an asterisk we were able to book via OpenTable. For our large party, two of us would book tables so we had the space reserved. The day before or the morning of, we would call the restaurant and ask to be seated together. Most of the places were very accommodating. Many of the restaurants did not have a children’s menu, but were able to give us a simple dish for the kids without much fanfare.

• Taverne Gaspar *- loved the mood of this place. It was very cozy and the food was good. The main photo of this post is one of the dishes we had at Taverne Gaspar.
• Vieux Port Steakhouse* – We ate here for New Year’s Eve dinner, so I feel like it would be unfair to give a review based on a busy night, but we did have a few interactions with staff that weren’t super great. Our waiter was wonderful, though! The food was just okay, but again, a busy busy busy night!
• Seasalt* – This place was very cool, very vibe-y. The food was good, and we hung out here for a long while and nobody rushed us through dinner.
• TimeOut Market – If you’ve been to a TimeOut Market anywhere else, you know this is like a fancy food court with different vendors. We ate really well here, and it was the least expensive of our meals! Food was ready quickly, and we were able to find seats fairly easily, too.
• Reuben’s Deli & Steakhouse – This might be at the top of our list of places we ate! We tried to go back a second time, but the restaurant was closed. Smoked deli meats is a very typical dish in Montreal, and with good reason. We had a sandwich loaded with deli meat and it was absolutely delicious.
• Notre Boeuf de Grace – We had lunch here one day when we decided we didn’t want to stand in line at a famous poutine restaurant. Our lunch was really tasty, and the poutine was amazing here!
• Jacopo* – Another restaurant where we loved the coziness. They were really accommodating and sat our huge party of 14 all together. This was more of an Italian menu, the Ravioli di Zucca was *chef’s kiss*.
• Rosetti Italian Bakery – This was down the street from our hotel and they had good coffee. Even though our hotel included breakfast, there were a couple days where we decided to head here and grab a second cup of coffee for the road. The kids loved the hot chocolate here, too. Their flatbreads and sandwiches were delicious, too. The desserts looked divine, but we never had a chance to try them.
