Your Next Read | November 9
Colleen Hoover is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine. I’ve read three of her books now, including this one – and each one is just as hard to put down as the last. (I’ve also read It Ends With Us and Verity.) Her writing is wonderfully descriptive and flows so well – which is probably why her books are popular.
November 9 follows Fallon, a girl on the verge of moving across the country from LA to New York, when she meets Ben. Fallon is a former actress who was on the brink of major success when a horrible fire left her scarred in more ways than one. Ben’s immediate attraction to Fallon causes them to spend her last day in LA together, and her story becomes the inspiration for the book Ben has always wanted to write. Over time, they continue to meet on the same day each year, until Fallon doubts whether Ben has been telling her the truth all this time.
The way this story unfolds is so incredibly heartbreaking and moving all at once. Somehow Hoover manages to turn characters who should be villains into humans, and makes you love them even more. This isn’t a light and fluffy romance, but it’s a book you should pick up all the same.
